UHSM Reviews
Unite Health Share Ministries (UHSM) is a Christian healthcare sharing program that offers unique medical cost solutions to members looking for options other than traditional health insurance. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Norfolk, VA, UHSM connects members with each other to facilitate medical cost-sharing.
UHSM program benefits are available to residents in all 50 states. Members must meet certain requirements to qualify for enrollment, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle and understanding that the program is for like-minded people of faith who share healthcare expenses.
UHSM is not health insurance. Instead, members pay a monthly share contribution that is held in escrow on behalf of every member. Payments for eligible medical costs can then be requested when a medical bill arises.
Members show their UHSM card to participating providers when obtaining medical services and pay consult fees as outlined in their respective programs. You can speak with a customer service representative to find out whether UHSM is right for you.

UHSM offers four programs for individuals, couples, and families. Within each tier, there are various pricing options available:
- Fundamental Sharing Program: Starting at $159 for individuals
- Vital Sharing Program: Starting at $358 for couples
- Gold Sharing Program: Starting at $606 for families

There is also a S.M.A.R.T. + S.T.A.R.R. program that provides additional protection for critical illness and accident expenses up to $50,000.
Members can save on prescription medication through UHSM’s partnership with CVS Caremark, which offers over 68,000 retail locations across the US, including Target, Walgreens, Walmart, and Costco. UHSM has pre-negotiated rates with CVS to bring lower costs to members.
What's Covered
UHSM works with the First Health PPO Network, a subsidiary of Aetna, which is among the largest networks across the US with over 1.5 million healthcare practitioners, specialists, and medical facilities.
All four of UHSM’s programs include wellness and preventative services, life-threatening emergency services, prescriptions, and unlimited telehealth. The S.M.A.R.T. + S.T.A.R.R. program provides sharing benefits to pay for extra out-of-pocket expenses related to the condition, including income protection, childcare, mortgage or rent, and other essentials.
Vision, dental, and critical illness benefits are provided by SureCo Health Care Agency, an independent third-party broker contracted with UHSM. The agency helps keep these costs low for members of UHSM. You can learn more about SureCo by visiting the website.
Pre-existing medical conditions are not eligible for health sharing during the first two years of continuous membership.
